DETAILS
Societal and political developments are showing a progressive, yet blatant shift towards more conservative stances. The consequences are numerous, and also concern the reinforcement of non-democratic tendencies and the restriction in citizens’ participation. What can we do in our local context? What do we want the EU to do about it as a global actor?
We will discuss this with a focus on LGBTQI+ representation, during our EU for Global Local Citizens’ Panel in Germany. Through the inputs of direct democracy professionals and decision-makers with a focus on LGBTQI+ rights, we will discuss the current context. In a hands-on workshop, we will transform our ideas into recommendations for policymakers and will understand how to turn fun and art into political activism – exploring irony politics and the role of comics in political communication. The outcome will be a set of recommendations to share with EU policymakers, but also artistic productions to disseminate during ColognePride.
