The direct democracy simplified series is a series that was formed in order to have simple discussions about direct democracy that people that may not know much about it can follow, in order to be inclusive.  Our first webinar was democracy 101, this went into the framework on direct democracy definitions and what tools were available at which level across the world. The second session was the question of whether direct democracy can be used at transnational level. Here we went into the definition of transnationality and what direct democracy tools were available at this level. Looking at ECIs at a European level and the global assembly initiative. Our last webinar  looked at the reasons why direct democracy doesn’t work. We explored what conditions are favorable for direct democracy to thrive. We will then take Hungary and Taiwan as case studies. Here we explored how direct democracy tools can be misused.
