As a 26-year-old originally from Azerbaijan, currently studying in France and joining the project from there, my greatest motivation when stepping into the Youth Bridges Europe program in Vallendar was to push past my comfort zone, discover diverse cultures with vibrant individuals from all across Europe, meet new people, engage in horizon-broadening exchanges, sing and dance together, and gather unforgettable memories into my intellectual backpack. However, the wonderful bonds I forged during those intense, dynamic, and inspiring days did more than just offer me fresh perspectives, they made me deeply question the true meaning of global representation and youth diplomacy, showing me with absolute clarity that leaving a lasting mark as young leaders in the international arena is not about producing passionate slogans or emotional grievances, but rather about succeeding in becoming an intellectually strong, highly empathetic, and, above all, constructive voice backed by solid knowledge.
The project holds a very special place in my heart, especially because those moments when we gathered in the evenings just to share the present after long days of serious panels, intense workshops, and deep discussions were truly unforgettable. Seeing people from every corner of Europe, each with completely different life stories, come together in the same frame with the same genuine smile and a shared excitement, reminded me of something crucial: if we want to change things in the world, we must first start by building these authentic, human connections. Singing and dancing together in the evenings, or laughing while sharing stories from our own cultures, made me realise with absolute clarity that shaping the future isn't just about the theories discussed at tables. Instead, it’s exactly about this ability to stand side by side and build bridges of empathy, just as you see in this photo. Every time I look at this picture, I don't feel the exhaustion of those intense days, but rather the pride of how we became one heart despite our differences, and the constructive energy we left behind for the future.

I still remember the very first moment we set foot in Vallendar, as we immediately felt its peaceful, relaxing atmosphere that is deeply rooted in history. Of course, we didn't want to just look at the city from the outside like ordinary tourists. Luckily for us, our dear teammate Henry guided the way, giving us the wonderful opportunity to discover Vallendar through the eyes of a local who knows these streets by heart. Henry gave us such a genuine and delightful tour. Walking along those historic streets under his guidance and learning the hidden stories behind the old buildings and corners completely transformed this experience into something much deeper than a simple walk.
To me, the best part of it all was how a team coming from different countries and completely distinct cultures got to explore the very places where one of our own friends grew up and made memories. Thanks to Henry’s warm and engaging storytelling, Vallendar became far more than just a location where the project took place. Instead, it turned into an unforgettable journey of discovery where we found pieces of ourselves in every street, ultimately making our friendships and the bonds between us even stronger.

The moment that left the deepest impression on my mind and truly made me think during the project was the presentation by Haris, a participant from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He conveyed the highly complex and challenging issues in his country with such a tone that the room instantly moved away from those classic complaint sessions we are all so used to. We weren't just looking at someone venting about problems. On the contrary, he paired every single issue he brought up with constructive and thoroughly thought-out, realistic solutions. By the time his presentation ended, everyone's perspective on that country had completely shifted. Seeing a young person represent his country so professionally, without hiding the realities but focusing entirely on solutions and with absolutely no personal gain, sparked a wonderful awareness in me.
In that moment, I saw with absolute clarity that standing out as young leaders on international platforms isn't about shouting aggressive slogans or constantly complaining. What makes a real difference is being able to sit at the table with intellectual depth, competence, and a constructive voice. No matter what corner of the world we find ourselves in, when we are given the floor, we shouldn't have clichéd sentences in our bags that everyone has memorized. Instead, we must bring tangible ideas that actually work. At the end of the day, the world doesn't listen to those who just raise their voices to create noise. It listens intently to those who offer a unique perspective and show real ways forward.
