At the end of the Global Forum, we will adopt a common declaration shaped by participants. We invite you to propose text that you think should be included.
Please submit a short, well-formulated paragraph (max. 700 characters) that could appear directly in the declaration.
Your contribution should:
-
make one clear point or call to action
-
be concrete and specific, rather than a general statement
-
reflect an issue, lesson or idea discussed at the Forum
-
be relevant beyond your own organisation or country
-
use language that participants from different backgrounds could support
Write the actual wording you propose for the declaration – not a description of what the declaration should say.
You may submit several proposals. Please submit one idea per proposal, as individual proposals will be compiled and presented to participants for discussion and voting.
Themes
We particularly welcome proposals relating to the Forum's main areas of discussion:
Enhancing democracy through local institutions
How can indigenous, traditional and local institutions strengthen democratic participation? What can modern democracy learn from institutions such as the kgotla?Building strong institutions and making democracy more democratic
How can citizens participate meaningfully in constitutional reform, policy-making and other important public decisions? How can participation strengthen democratic legitimacy, institutional resilience and public trust?Youth and intergenerational democracy
How should democratic institutions better include young people, strengthen youth leadership and create meaningful dialogue and shared decision-making between generations?People power for the planet
How can democratic participation contribute to climate justice, a just transition and resilient communities? What role should citizens and communities play in decisions affecting their environment and future?Natural resources and democratic governance
How can transparency, public oversight and meaningful participation ensure that natural resources are governed equitably and sustainably and that affected communities have a genuine say in decisions?Regional integration and democratic cooperation
How can countries, democratic institutions and civil society work across borders to strengthen democratic values, support democratic transitions and respond collectively to threats to democracy? You are also welcome to submit a proposal that cuts across several of these themes or captures a broader lesson from the Forum.
