Democracy Local Is a Planetary Publication of, for and by Everyday People Governing Themselves. Here's a Guide for How to Subscribe, Donate, and Contribute Your Stories, Ideas, Events, and Data.
All Democracy Is Local. Democracy is best defined as “everyday people governing themselves.” Most of that self-government takes place at the local level. You'll find local self-government in surprising places, even in nations that are considered autocracies.
That’s why we started Democracy Local. It is a new high-quality, professional publication and community for and by everyday people who are doing the work of democracy. Democracy Local is at once intensely local and fervently global—it’s interested in self-governance in every community on the planet.
Imagine a media platform to which anyone could take any story, idea, planned event, video, audio, photograph, poem, or data about democracy from any place on earth. Then imagine that journalists and professionals would help anyone edit and produce their story or content at the highest quality—and work to translate it and distribute it for the largest possible audience. Finally, imagine that this publication would build a learning community of people who act together to better govern their own communities and the world.
That’s Democracy Local. Here's how to become a part of it:
