Youth Democracy Network

Connect. Learn. Take action for democracy.

The Youth Democracy Network is a European community for young people who want to learn more about democracy, connect with others across borders and turn their ideas into action.

Hosted by Democracy International, the network brings together young people who care about democratic participation and want to strengthen their skills, exchange experiences and create their own activities.

You do not need to be a democracy expert to join. Whether you already organise projects in your community or are just beginning to explore how you can get involved, the network is a space to learn, meet others and find your own way to participate.

What can you do in the network?

The Youth Democracy Network is built around active participation.

  • Join workshops, trainings and other learning opportunities on democracy and participation.
  • Connect with young people from different countries and backgrounds.
  • Learn more about democratic tools, campaigning, facilitation and civic engagement.
  • Share your own experiences and ideas with the network.
  • Organise your own workshops or learning activities.
  • Write articles and contribute content on democracy and participation.
  • Develop your skills and receive recognition for your learning through YouthPass.

Members who want to take a more active role can also propose their own workshops. Some activities can become Democracy International-certified workshops, with feedback and support from our team.

A network made by young people

We want the Youth Democracy Network to grow through the ideas and energy of its members.

Young people can not only participate in activities but also help shape the network itself - for example by joining the coordination team, organising workshops, sharing knowledge or supporting other members.

The network will be coordinated together with young volunteers, a member of the Democracy International team and young people who want to take responsibility for developing the community.

Who can join?

The network is open to young people up to the age of 30.

All levels of English are welcome. You do not need perfect English to participate, and activities can also support language learning along the way.

What matters most is that you want to take part. The Youth Democracy Network is not designed as a passive mailing list: members are encouraged to regularly join workshops, trainings or other network activities and contribute to the community.

When you move beyond the network's age group, you can stay connected as an alumnus or alumna and may later contribute as a trainer, mentor or guest at future activities.
