   Until May 3, 2020:

  • Schools, services, places of worship and shops (except supermarkets) are closed. Restaurants are closed or work only with delivery/take away. Citizens are prohibited from travelling without a valid reason. Borders are closed to third-country nationals. Public transport is closed, except for employee transport. There are fines for violating the orders, for example the unnecessary movement by car is punishable by a fine of 150 euros and the removal of license plates.

   From May 4, 2020 onwards:

  • Schools, shops, services, transportation are gradually opening. The use of a mask is mandatory indoors, in public transport and in the workplace. The situation will be reassessed in about a week.

9 May:

  • Limitiations on regional movement

12 May:

  •  Social-Distancing rules for businesses and public gatherings were adjusted

6 June:

  • Various lockdown restrictions have been eased

29 June:

  • Hotels and other tourist accommodation may reopen given the creation of isolation areas for confirmed cases of COVD-19

8 July:

  • Conferences may take place under health protocols

  • There are no scheduled elections or referendums

  • The Courts are closed. They only work to handle loans and emergencies.

Limitations to freedom of information
  • Yes, there are laws for spreading fake news. Prosecutions are being carried out when a breach is found, and the penalties imposed.
Emergency powers for government
  • Specific areas of Greece have been declared a state of emergency due to the accumulated corona cases. It is forbidden for citizens to move in and out of these areas (quarantine). There are checks.
