Designed as an introduction to the host country, the programme offers participants the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into Botswana's governance system, democratic values, and community life through a combination of institutional visits, expert exchanges, and cultural experiences.

Highlights

The pre-tour offers an opportunity to experience Botswana beyond the conference venue. Planned activities include:

• Visits to significant democratic, civic, and cultural sites across Gaborone.
• Academic insights and expert discussions at the University of Botswana.
• Exchanges with representatives of key public institutions on governance, citizen participation, and democratic decision-making.
• Visits to sites of national importance, exploring Botswana's history, identity, and democratic values.
• An immersive cultural experience showcasing local traditions, community perspectives, and Botswana's rich cultural heritage.

The programme is currently being finalised, and the itinerary is subject to change.

Date: Wednesday, 7 October 2026
Participation fee: €50 per person (covering transportation and applicable entry fees).
Registration: Required due to limited capacity
Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, we kindly encourage attendees to take part in the programme for its full duration. If you are unable to join at the start of the tour or need to leave early, we ask that you arrange your own transportation to meet or depart from the group.
