Romania
Accommodation at the Preparation Meeting

Welcome to Bucharest, Romania's cosmopolitan hub and capital, where we will spend four marvelous days together during our upcoming Democracy Camp 2024 preparation meeting.

Bucharest is genuinely unlike any other city in Romania, excelling not only with its stunning Belle Époque architecture dotting the city centre (no wonder it earned the nickname 'Little Paris' in the early 1900s) but also with its tumultuous history. Most notably, the infamous, humongous Palace of the Parliament - today the world's largest administrative building for civilian use - symbolically recounts Romania's torn history between oppression and democracy, which stands representatively for much of recent European history.

During our stay in this beautiful city, we will be housed in Hostel JAZ, in the northeast, with the city centre just around the corner (25min of walking). For those of you who are interested in gaining more visual impressions of our accommodation, we recommend that you stop by their photo gallery.

Here are some crucial facts about Hostel JAZ:

  • Accommodation with a maximum of four people per room
  • A garden adjacent to the hostel
  • A sun terrace to hang out
  • Internet access

To get a better overview of the location of Hostel JAZ and the three main venues of the Global Forum - the Revista Theatre, the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, as well as the Palace of the Parliament - you can also take a glimpse at this map we created for you:
